What cookies AfriDish uses and why (only essential ones)
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember information about your visit, such as your login status.
AfriDish uses cookies sparingly and responsibly. We do not use cookies for advertising, tracking, or profiling.
Session authentication cookie (essential): set by Supabase Auth when you sign in. This cookie keeps you securely logged in during your session. Without it, you would need to re-enter your password on every page.
Cookie consent cookie (essential): stored in your browser's localStorage under the key "afridish_cookie_consent_v1". Records that you have seen and acknowledged the cookie notice. Prevents the banner from showing on every visit.
We set NO advertising cookies. We have NO third-party tracking scripts. We use NO analytics services that set cookies (e.g. Google Analytics). We use NO social media tracking pixels.
Authentication cookies are strictly necessary for AfriDish to function. Without them, you cannot stay logged in to view your meal plans, health profile, or subscription.
Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, we do not require your consent to set them under ePrivacy Directive exceptions for essential cookies.
We still show a cookie notice so you are fully informed about what we use.
Browser settings: you can delete cookies at any time through your browser's settings (usually under Privacy or History). Deleting the session cookie will sign you out.
Private browsing: session cookies are not saved when you use private/incognito browsing mode. Each visit will require a fresh sign-in.
Cookie banner: if you want to reset the cookie consent notice, delete the "afridish_cookie_consent_v1" entry from your browser's localStorage (accessible via browser developer tools).
Blocking cookies: if you block all cookies in your browser, AfriDish will not be able to keep you signed in. Essential functionality will not work.
Supabase (authentication): may set cookies as part of its authentication flow. See Supabase's privacy policy for details.
Stripe (payments): sets cookies on payment pages as part of its fraud prevention system. See Stripe's privacy policy for details.
AfriDish does not embed third-party social media buttons, widgets, or share buttons that would allow social networks to track you across the web.
If we ever introduce any new cookies beyond the essential ones described here, we will update this policy and notify you via email or the in-app notification system at least 30 days in advance.
